for my next birthday I want a personal life coach

it's time to stop. trying to find answers to the same questions and searching for balance in a life where too many people are depending on me. it's time to let go. my husband turning his paternal feelings on and off at will and the oppressive obligation of scheduling every day to give my sons the secureness of a routine. it's time to contemplate and absorb things instead of trying to work them out. it's time to indulge. winter sales. eating healthy and more desserts. it's time to listen. my favorite CD saturating the apartment with chords in A major. it's time to accept. my writing, doubtful and brittle, sitting in front of my laptop for hours trying to reach the place where my words would gather some sort of significance and resonance, and fail. it's time to implant my life with what's really important. a spiral notebook, holding my husband's hand and Dora bubbles.

I hope I can reach this place! I'm with you on the coach, too! Wouldn't that be awesome? Maybe I just need to pay someone to tell me to relax.

I think too much too. I overthink a lot of the time, okay, most of the time. I wish I didn't do that. A personal life coach would be nice, and maybe a personal shopper and a personal chef. There I go again, overthinking <g>.

You have arrived, Irene!

You are such a talented writer with great depth and humor - it is time to indulge in your passion and enjoy the stuff you like to do for yourself. Self-care makes us better and more lovable moms and when I squeeze in fun in a monotonous routine, my life evolves and I am much happier person! : )

I will be eagerly waiting for your new book, how about Memoirs of a MOMster! : ) It will be a bestseller, right, guys? Make it happen soon...

Ahhh, you are inside my brain too, Irene. I love the forgivingness of this post. It's true, you know.

Ah, but you succeed. Your writing speaks for itself. I understand that feeling so well, of trying to convey something in writing and just not being able to find the right words in the right combination. In that one sentence above, you described what I feel.

I agree with all the posts. You're a wonderful writer and you should be proud of that and just "go with it!"

re: your comment - I think you should give the Knitting Olympics a try! Part of the challenge is going to be selecting something doable, but not too easy...

The next 'place' will be when you realize (as we all do eventually) that that life coach you're wishing for...is already inside of you. (She is, really! She just might be hiding in the closet.) ;) Beautiful post, my friend. Your honesty is always inspiring. Big hugs from rainy Portland! xoxo

Hey I want a life coach too, I just got through watching Starting Over, It's a bunch of women in a house with a couple of life coaches working on their issues. Sounds like you know what you need to do. I hope you get to where you want to be.

You seem to take the words right out of my mouth sometimes Irene. You are awesome! Nothing wrong with focusing attention on yourself. Us moms work very hard at what we do for our families. Sometimes we forget to take care of us. Would be one of the first ones in LINE for your book! ;)

I guess we all reach the point when we know it's time to let go. But where do we go from there? I'm still searching for that inner voice :( Feel better Irene.

yes, indulge, forgive, accept and have fun... see you know the answers already, Irene, no life coach required. ;)
